IT'S 2003!!

ALASKA CONNECTION

Cousins Paul and Ginny Chissus(March '02) sent a link to son Paul Jr's new home town news letter. Seems he has been in print a couple of times, but they don't archive each issue. You can read about his involvement with the boys and Girls Clubhereforever, or go to the newsletter Seldovia.comwhile it lasts or to see future articles that involve him. Congratulations from us down in California!

RYAN'S ARE COLUSA PIONEERS

(ADDED MORE SCANS 01/19/2003!)

I have been digging into the Ryan past a little bit lately and would like to share a little with you. Mike Ryan came to Colusa county in the 1870's. In 1874 he stabbed a chinaman and then was promptly shot! In 1876 at 33years old, he married his 16 year old bride Alice Elliott. 3 short years later he was thrown from a wagon and killed leaving an estate that included 160 acres of land worth $4800.00! The cost of his funeral was $120.00. Colusa's local historian's John and Lisa Morton are presently copying about 50 pages of 2 probate contests. Seems that his last will was written before his marriage and those heirs were in a battle with his wife Alice! Please click on the photo to the left to read the newspaper account of the shooting and additional pictures beyond that! Will add more when I get copies of the probate.
