John Craig was born somewhere between 1647 and 1651 in Scotland. It is assumed that he is descended from the Craig family of Aberdeenshire, but is yet to be proven. In 1685 John, his wife Ursula, sons Archibald and James and a daughter Ursula boarded the Henry and Francis for the trip to America. They arrived in New Jersey the same year in the Perth Amboy area. By June 11th, 1690 George Kieth granted John 150 acres in Middlesex County. In 1702 son Archibald purchased this land from his father.
